Dr. Hatice Buruklar studied medicine at the Université Libre de Bruxelles where she further specialised in ophthalmology at the Erasmus Hospital with Prof. Dr. Monique Cordonnier.
Dr Buruklar obtained several additional interuniversity diplomas and certificates, including "Inflammations et Infections oculars" at the Université Paris Diderot, Ocular ultrasound at the Vue Explorer Institute in France and Macula course at Moorfields Eye hospital in the UK. She regularly participates in international congresses such as ESCRS, EuCornea, NCC, GSLS, AAO and ARVO. She is also a fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO).

Dr. Buruklar is passionate about the cornea; after specialising in ophthalmology, she obtained a sub-specialisation in cornea for 3 years with Prof. Dr. Carina Koppen at the University Hospital of Antwerp where she treated cornea patients, operated cataracts and performed corneal transplants (DSAEK, PK). She was also responsible for cross-linking treatment for keratoconus disease.

She currently works at Brussels Eye Doctors as a cornea specialist with special interest in general ophthalmology, ocular dryness, allergies, infections, autoimmune diseases, pathologies and corneal dystrophies (keratoconus, Fuchs).
