Our team

Dr. Hatice Buruklar studied medicine at the Université Libre de Bruxelles where she further specialised in ophthalmology at the Erasmus Hospital with Prof. Dr. Monique Cordonnier.
Dr Buruklar obtained several additional interuniversity diplomas and certificates, including "Inflammations et Infections oculars" at the Université Paris Diderot, Ocular ultrasound at the Vue Explorer Institute in France and Macula course at Moorfields Eye hospital in the UK. She regularly participates in international congresses such as ESCRS, EuCornea, NCC, GSLS, AAO and ARVO. She is also a fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO).

Dr. Buruklar is passionate about the cornea; after specialising in ophthalmology, she obtained a sub-specialisation in cornea for 3 years with Prof. Dr. Carina Koppen at the University Hospital of Antwerp where she treated cornea patients, operated cataracts and performed corneal transplants (DSAEK, PK). She was also responsible for cross-linking treatment for keratoconus disease.

She currently works at Brussels Eye Doctors as a cornea specialist with special interest in general ophthalmology, ocular dryness, allergies, infections, autoimmune diseases, pathologies and corneal dystrophies (keratoconus, Fuchs).

Works in collaboration with Dr Deconinck, in the field of strabology, for visual
examinations of children, for orthoptic examinations and for screening of neuro-visual disorders.
Works in collaboration with Dr. Vryghem in the assessment of visual and refractive disorders in adults.

Doctor Cools devotes her time to general ophthalmology. She is specialised in retina pathologies (diabetic retinopathy, etc.), diagnosing them (fluo-angiography) and their treatment by laser.

Nele is responsible for the Femtosecond and Excimer Laser. She assists the surgeons in the operating theatre. She carries out additional research in the case of personalised LASIK (femto) treatment: topography-guided, wavefront-guided and/or taking into account the cyclotorsion of the eye.

Doctor De Leener devotes her time to general ophthalmology.

Dr. Hilde Deconinck is specialised in strabismus and diplopia (all ages) and pediatric Ophtalmology (from birth -10 years). Consultations on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Eyesurgery on Tuesday and Wednesdaymorning in Kliniek Sint-Jan, Botanique,1000 Brussels

Melek is a multi-purpose secretary. She is responsible for reception, preparatory procedures and giving information to patients. She assists the surgeons in the operating theatre.

Doctor Ilieva devotes herself to general ophthalmology.

Cristel is Office Manager. She is responsible for the day to day running of the clinic. As representative of the management she manages the ISO-9001 certification: creation, implementation and maintenance of a management and organisation system that complies with ISO-9001 criteria.
